Dear Patients of Creating Harmony Women’s Healthcare...

Since we opened July 2006, Creating Harmony has sought to provide thoughtful, compassionate, and complete healthcare to women in a warm and welcoming environment. We have been successful in doing so because of the fantastic support of our caring and talented nurse-midwives, our indispensable office manager, our wonderfully kind and welcoming office staff, our dedicated and supportive families, our greater community of hospitals/surgery center and their staffs, fellow providers, and, of course, our incredible patients.

Unfortunately, some of the characteristics that make San Luis Obispo County such a special place to live also make it an increasingly difficult area in which to run a private medical practice such as ours.  Despite all of our best efforts, it is clear that maintaining the business of Creating Harmony is no longer practical or possible.

As such, our practice will be closing mid-August 2024.  My staff and I are all sad that we will no longer be able to offer services through our office, but we will remain within the community.

I, Aaron Kromhout, M.D. will continue to provide obstetric and gynecologic services in my new position as a member of the Women’s Health team at Community Health Centers of the Central Coast (CHC), based out of the San Luis Obispo office.

Helen Cominos, Certified Nurse Midwife, will also join CHC Women’s Health in San Luis Obispo.

Lisa Winick, Certified Nurse Midwife will be completing her further training to also become a Certified Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner.

For those of you who wish to remain patients of Helen Cominos or Aaron Kromhout, CHC will happily endeavor to support your transfer of care.  CHC accepts most major insurances, including MediCal and CenCal, but does not currently have contracts with HMOs.

For pregnant patients who expect to deliver prior to our date of closure, we will continue services as expected.  For pregnant patients who anticipate delivery following mid-August, if you wish to transfer with us to CHC, we will continue providing services while we remain open and then will resume your care at CHC.  If you wish to transfer to a practice other than CHC, we encourage you to do so as soon as is practical, and we will continue to offer care at Creating Harmony (while we remain open) until you are able to be seen at your new practice. We will no longer be accepting new obstetrical patients.

For patients who need gynecologic services prior to our closing, we will continue to schedule appointments, as available.

We encourage you to contact us before our closing date so that we may provide you with a copy of your records, and/or to facilitate a timely transfer of those records to CHC or another practice of your choice. Download the Medical Release Form.

After closure of our office, we will maintain our current phone number with a voicemail service to allow for record requests.

It has been an honor and a pleasure to know you and to support you through important transitions in your lives.  Thank you for entrusting Creating Harmony with your and your family’s healthcare needs.

Sincerely,
Aaron Kromhout, M.D.
